Martha Stewart Weddings: Spring 2013

Samantha and I are so excited and honored that our work is featured in the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings! This issue is the "Real Weddings" issue and it features a handful of some of the most beautiful real weddings from around the country, including the September 2011 wedding of our dear clients, Meghan and Chris, who were married at Chris' family farm in Reading, Vermont. We had the pleasure of working with a super talented group of (local:) vendors including wedding planner extraordinaire, Kate Parker, photographer, Ned Jackson, pastry chef, Erin Gardner of Wild Orchid Baking Co. and the lovely Lena Hartford of Hair that Moves.

Meghan and Chris came to us looking for a rustic invitation suite that reflected the real life charm of the working dairy farm where they would be married. But since the affair would be elegant and sophisticated with a custom built Sperry Tent that featured hardwood floors, it was imperative their invitation suite didn't feel hokey. We took inspiration from their natural color palette, the gorgeous rolling hills and the wide array of livestock that roam the 1,000 acres. Meghan and Chris had planned a 3-day fete that included everything from a beer tasting to a nature walk and a pig roast so it was important that we think of an interesting way to include all of this information for guests. We created a z-fold invitation that featured 3 separate panels: one for the actual invitation, the middle for a custom, hand-drawn map of the farm and a final panel outlining all of the activities taking place throughout the weekend. As a way to tie in their neutral palette we used ecru paper stock for the base of the z-fold but printed each panel on pearl white and mounted those to the ecru backing. Deep purple, warm raspberry red and dark chartreuse green inks added vibrancy to the piece. Once folded up we tied it shut with natural cotton twine and tucked it inside a kraft envelope that featured beautiful white calligraphy for guests' addresses done by Elizabeth Porcher Jones.

In addition to the elaborate invitation suite we designed and printed we were tasked with creating multiple pieces for the day of the wedding including: menus, escort cards, table cards, favor tags, drink stirrers, coasters and a hand-drawn chalkboard for the program.

Below is the feature from Martha Stewart Weddings followed by some detailed photos of the suite. And if you haven't already, go pick up a copy of the magazine - it's so much more beautiful in person!

We'd love your Vote!

Hello friends,

Big time apologies for how sporadic our posting has been this winter. As you all know, we've been up to our ears in exciting changes and lots of incredible client work and, sadly, we just haven't been able to keep up with the blog the way we should. But, we've been thinking of you, dear readers, and promise we'll be back in the swing of things once the nuttiness calms down.

In the meantime, we would be oh so thankful if you might take a moment to VOTE for us in the New Hampshire Magazine Best of Bride 2013 poll. We are so, so lucky to have the opportunity to work with so many incredible brides and grooms (and mothers of the bride, fathers of the groom, best men, bridesmaids, aunts and uncles....the list goes on) throughout the year. Creating wedding stationery is our passion and we feel so honored to get to help couples craft the perfect suite for their big day.

A vote for "Best Shop for Invitations" would mean SO much to us; winning really does help spread the word about our services and, in turn, allow us the chance to collaborate with even more fabulous people. Voting is easy, only takes a minute and you only need to fill out 4 other categories in order to submit. Given how many incredible vendors there are in the area, it shouldn't be hard to complete!

Thank you, thank you for your vote. We truly are lucky gals to get to do what we do and we count our stars each day!
