Promotion: FREE insert card from Spark!

I hope this post finds you all safe and sound and dry after this week's harrowing storm, Sandy.  Our hearts go out to all those dealing with the devastation left in her aftermath. We were fortunate to avoid any real damage but send our best wishes to those who were not as lucky for a speeding recovery.

On a lighter note (is there ever an easy/appropriate way to transition from awful, real-life issues to light, lovey-dovey wedding ones? I can't seem to find one, if there is.), I did want to alert you brides and grooms to-be about a fabulous promotion being offered from our pals at Spark.

Anytime before Feb. 1, 2013, if you order a 4 piece invitation suite, Spark will offer a FREE 1 color insert card.  So that means a free directions card or thank you note or reception card or rehearsal dinner invitation or...well whatever you like!  Pretty sweet, huh?

Read up on the deets and then give us a call to set-up a private appointment to look at the albums. We're pretty sure you'll love them!

Buy Local 2013 Calendars!

Good Morning Ladies & Gents!

Liz here.
How was your week?
Great, I hope!
Ours here at the shop was pretty fab - most especially because we got my favorite calendars in!

Claudia Pearson's work has always had a little place in my heart because it is so bright, fun, and whimsical. Not to mention is has a great message - to buy local!

Each page has a lovely little bundle of fruits and veg that are good to buy local in that month - what a great guide for grocery shopping, don't you think?!

They work as art too - hang them in a grid on the wall, and Voila!

You think I'm done right now with the blogging, don't cha.
But I'm not.

...

You're remembering correctly.
There's a tea towel Claudia designs too. With a calendar on it. It's the BEST...

:)
Lovin' it, right?!

Ok pals, that'll be it for now.
Happy weekend to you - here's to it being a sunny one (is this storm really going to hit, or what?!)

We are pretty passionate about the democratic process here at Gus & Ruby Letterpress. So, we can't encourage y'all enough to go VOTE on November 6th. Vote for your beliefs. Vote for the people who put themselves in harm's way to protect our right to do so. Vote for your parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, kiddos, grandbabies and friends. Vote for whatever reason you have to vote.  It's our privilege and our civic duty.

And, if you do Vote in this election, our amazing friends at Bella Figura are offering 25 FREE* sets of beautiful letterpress wedding invitations.  All you have to do is bring us a picture of you at the polls and we'll take it from there.  Pretty incredible, right? We think so!

Lauren & Ilan's Converse Sneaker Save the Dates

Lauren & Ilan, an adorable couple from New York, contacted us last year about recreating our Rocky Mountain suite for their November nuptials but wanted to do something that wasn't mountain themed for the save the date. Their idea was to create a type-driven piece with fun wording that reflects their individual style and sense of humor. Apparently they have a reputation for wearing hoodies and converse sneakers on a regular basis! So, we enlisted our dear friends at Brainstorm to illustrate a pair of converse sneakers (that Lauren may or may not wear at the wedding) which act as the only illustration on the piece. The rest of the graphic was created using a mix of typefaces from a classic sans serif to a stylized hand-drawn font justified to fit most of the card. A bold monochromatic color palette, navy paper backing and super fun envelope liner topped off the design. This was such a fun project to work on and truly one of my favorite save the dates to design of all time. Lauren and Ilan are getting married in just a few short weeks and we cannot wait to see photos of what promises to be a beautiful affair!

Calendar Round-up Numero Uno

Afternoon Pals!

We're officially starting to roll into the get-it-early holiday shopping stage at Gus & Ruby Letterpress and I am thrilled to announce that as of this week we will have our full assortment of desk and wall calendars available for you all to peruse (and grab up for holiday gifts).

What we love so much about the variety of calendars that we're carrying this year is that not only do these pieces act as a helpful tool in your home or office space, but they are BEAUTIFUL wall art that can be trimmed and framed after every month or at 2013's end. Genius - don't 'cha think?!

I have a hard time picking a favorite, but our desk calendar selection this year has some really great variety.

This monthly mustache calendar from Two Paperdolls has been a favorite early grab gift for Dad's and those hard-to-buy-for guys in your life. It showcases famous celebrity mustaches on each month and is letterpress printed (doesn't get much better)!

And there is really not much that needs to be said about this little ditty from One Canoe Two - I mean, a tiny letterpress printed calendar propped in a stump of wood? TO DIE FOR. The perfect addition to any desktop, I can guar-an-tee!

Nothing beats the soft palette of these watercolor inspired wall & desk calendars from Fine Day Press, though. I think these designs are so incredibly simple and sweet, and a great addition to any space. Ashley over at FDP has even created the designs to fit perfectly at the top of each calendar page so that you can trim off the grid at the bottom and frame an 8x10" print from each page.

And we wouldn't want to disappoint all of you dog lovers out there... so we brought back the adorable Dog Days desk calendar from The Found this year. This is a super sweet gift for anyone who loves canines (and is a great gift swap item if you are going to be needing one for your office holiday party this year!) Each month depicts a different dog illustration and needless to say, as major pup enthusiasts, we adore this fun, whimsical calendar.

The list really does go on and on pals! So many fun options this year!
Come visit us early to get the top pick and the best selection for you and all who you love on your holiday shopping lists this year, and look forward to a second round up later this week!

Woooohooooo!
xoxo Lizzy

I love everything about this calendar - the sweet design and adorable little muslin bag the calendar pages come in... and the idea of each little page hanging in a grid on the wall. You wanna talk about instant wall art!

This is one of MANY awesome calendars that we are offering this year for our custies. It was tough to decide which calendars to carry as there were SO many awesome newbies on the market this year, not to mention all of our old favorites. But we managed alright :)

Swing by the shop to check out the new variety - you will NOT be disappointed!
We'll have a round up on the blog before you know it, so for those of you who can't make it in, sit tight (remember, we can always ship you one for yourself and others for all the lovies on your holiday shopping list!)

Have a great rest of your weekend and let's check in again soon.

Amanda & Jason: A seaside fĂȘte!

Happy rainy Wednesday, friends. It's the kind of day that could use some cheery sun-shiney wedding loveliness to brighten things up, don't you think? I do!

So, without further ado, I bring you the charming seaside wedding of Amanda & Jason. These two lovebirds came to us (thanks to their fab planner, Diana Ma, who we adore) for a stationery suite that would set the tone for their ocean-side wedding in Maine. We collaborated with our pals at Smock to create a customized suite that fit the bill perfectly.  Don't you love the dreamy color palette?

Check out a few photos from the soiree taken by the oh-so-talented, Deborah Zoe of Deborah Zoe Photography

Looks like a pretty fab celebration of love doesn't it?  Congratulations, Amanda & Jason! Wishing you a lifetime of joy and laughter and reasons to celebrate together!!
